Job Background

CDP Europe, one of the world’s leading environmental NGOs, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team. CDP Europe is part of the CDP Global System, a global non-profit that runs the world’s environmental disclosure system for companies, cities, states and regions. Fully TCFD aligned, CDP holds the largest environmental database in the world, and CDP scores are widely used to drive investment and procurement decisions towards a zero carbon, sustainable and resilient economy.

In 2021, CDP worked with over 590 institutional investors with assets of US$110 trillion and 200+ supply chain members with a combined purchasing power of $5.5 trillion. Over 9,600 companies with some 55% of global market capitalization as well as over 800 cities and over 130 states and regions disclosed environmental data through CDP in 2020.

Within CDP, the CDSB Secretariat team works to create the enabling conditions for companies to disclose high-quality climate and environmental information to their investors through their mainstream reports, contributing to financially resilient capital markets worldwide.

The team is currently starting up the third year of the 4-year, €2.9 million FinAction Project to scale up nature-related financial disclosures across Europe through corporate and policy engagement, supported by rigorous research and technical thought leadership. As a Project Manager, you will work closely with the Senior Project Manager, managing an international project team driving an ambitious corporate and regulator engagement programme across the European Union. A key part of this role will be supporting the Senior Project Manager in integrating the project into the wider work of CDP Europe teams by the end of 2021.

Both CDSB and CDP Europe are international, award-winning initiatives and this position provides the successful candidate with an exciting opportunity to gain experience and make your mark on the corporate reporting landscape, helping to ensure the crucial interface between financial and non-financial information related to climate and the environment.

The successful candidate will have experience in project management and management accounting. Experience with the administration of EU LIFE grants is highly desirable but not essential.
CDP hosts the CDSB Secretariat, and the role will be based in CDP Europe’s offices in Berlin (with current primarily working from home policy in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic).

The role includes

  • Integrating the project into the wider work of CDP Europe teams, with the guidance of the project team and Senior Project Manager;
  • Keeping the team on track to achieve deliverables and KPIs on time;
  • Liaising with the project team to ensure deliverables are on track, on budget and meeting KPIs;
  • Presenting regular updates to the Senior Project Manager on progress against delivery plans, spending and flagging up areas of concern;
  • Management of standardised time tracking, travel claim/processing and other administrative systems for the project team globally, in line with CDP Europe’s processes;
  • Tracking of financial budgets; and
  • Preparing reports to the funders, in collaboration with the grant compliance manager and the Senior Project Manager.

The successful candidate should have

  • 3-4 years of project management experience;
  • The ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure;
  • Meticulous attention to detail and rigour;
  • Flexible and comfortable in a rapidly changing environment;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Some financial administration/accounting experience;
  • Strong Excel skills;
  • Common sense and can-do attitude; and
  • An understanding of and desire to work proactively to promote corporate sustainability.

Please note that some international travel may be required once it is safe to do so.

  • Desirable
    • Project management qualification such as Prince II or similar;
    • Experience of working with donors; and
    • Knowledge of Asana or other project management software.

Further information

The successful candidate will work five days per week and must be able to work legally in Germany. This full-time role will preferably be located at our office in Berlin, Germany (with current working from home policy in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic). The successful candidate will work closely with global CDSB Secretariat and CDP Europe teams and report to the Senior Project Manager, CDSB. The role is limited to the end of the project (June 2023) with the aim of long-term cooperation.
