CDP Europe is seeking a highly motivated individual to lead CDP’s supply chain sustainability work in continental Europe. CDP’s supply chain program works with the largest companies in the world to improve the environmental performance of their supply chains by engaging their suppliers to limit climate change, improve water stewardship and forest-related practices.

The role includes

  • Lead CDP’s Supply Chain program in Europe: Overall responsibility for the Supply Chain membership program’s strategic objectives as agreed with Director Corporate Engagement Europe, i.e. income and impact targets, account management, membership growth, and strategic development;
  • Coordinate and line-manage CDP Europe’s Supply Chain team, currently consisting of five Account Managers, one Project Officer and one Trainee;
  • External representation: Represent CDP’s Supply Chain program externally, serving as an evangelist for the importance of supply chain engagement, e.g. in meetings with key European corporate stakeholders or at conferences;
  • Internal representation: Represent the program and the European office in CDP’s global program management structures, ensuring that European requirements are anchored, and overtaking global responsibility over program-related work areas such as Product Development or member events;
  • Generate ideas how to develop the program further, within Europe but also globally – e.g. through new ways of analysing supplier data, meaningful ways to combine covered environmental areas (climate, water, forests), new partnership opportunities, etc.;
  • Expand the reach and impact of the program by developing tailored approaches for new user groups such as governments;
  • Oversee company engagement and processes of supply chain membership (sales), overall income delivery and cost management and ensure successful cooperation and harmonization within the team and with other teams both within Europe and globally;
  • Collaborate closely with other team leads in Europe to ensure an integrated and client-focussed engagement approach.

The successful candidate should have


  • 7+ years of relevant work experience;
  • Minimum BA/BSc degree, Masters preferred or relevant experience;
  • Experience leading high performing teams, including the line management of staff;
  • Experience with responsibility for own project or team budget of >1 Mio. €;
  • Good business communications experience and a very strong command of business language, with ability to interact convincingly with people at different levels of seniority and different cultural backgrounds, and ability to represent a topic or program in- and externally;
  • Ability to build strong, trusted relationships with corporate clients;
  • A visionary who can drive programs, build a high functioning team and set a strategic direction;
  • Proven track record in business development or sales with persistence, endurance and creativity and work experience in account management;
  • Proven strong negotiation and networking skills, ideally with existing contacts in networks across businesses in Europe, including relevant contacts within trade associations and industry working groups;
  • Strong organisational and planning skills – both at strategic and operational levels;
  • Proven data analysis skills with love for detail plus good research/ argumentation skills; experience working with large datasets to pull out key insights for clients and provide strategic advice;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (in particular Excel and Power Point); knowledge of data analysis programs or ability to learn quickly;
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work within an annual process with shifting priorities;
  • Flexibility and creative problem-solving;
  • Endurance and perseverance;
  • Fluent in English. Another European language, particularly French, German or Polish, would be a plus.


  • Knowledge of client relationship management systems (CRM software);
  • Experience in working on climate change and sustainability topics within a corporate environment;
  • Experience in procurement and/or supply chain responsibility and sustainability;
  • Experience working with GHG emissions data with special focus on GHG emissions accounting (particularly Scope 3) and /or water security / forest issues particularly concerning supply chains.

Further information

The successful candidate will work five days per week and must be able to work legally in Germany. This full-time role is based at our office in Berlin, Germany.
