What you'll do:

  • Develop and coordinate strategic sustainability agenda for Biochemicals, taking into account customer, market and policy trends
  • Follow and influence relevant regulations and policies for our products and markets
  • Manage and coordinate projects or initiatives in the field of sustainability and regulatory development, including formulation of UPM Biochemicals's positions and influencing plans
  • Work with internal (e.g., public affairs, product development and sales & marketing) and external stakeholders (e.g., industry associations, working groups, certification schemes), and coordinate dialogue and cooperation with them in the field of sustainability and policy development
  • Ensure the end-use market sustainability requirements/regulatory requirements are fulfilled in the value chain
  • Present UPM Biochemicals's sustainability strategy to internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate certification and label strategies

Who you are:

  • You have at least a master's degree in Chemistry, Science or Sustainability or another relevant area
  • You have experience in chemical, packaging, textile or automotive sustainability and regulatory topics
  • You have experience in chemicals, renewable materials or renewable energy industry processes and value chains
  • You have a proven track record in engaging in industry associations, open policy formulation processes and in speaking as an advocate for sustainability related developments
  • You have experience in sustainability certifications and audits
  • You have an understanding of energy markets and policies
  • You have a curious mindset and a highly cooperative approach to work in an international team
  • You are able to see the big picture but also analyse details
  • You have excellent communication and influencing skills in English and German; other languages are a plus

Additional information:

This position is located in Germany at our Biorefinery in Leuna or another agreed location. You will be part of the Biofuels and Biochemicals Sustainability team and report to Liisa Ranta, Director, Sustainability and Marked Development.
