Associate Researcher, Electric Vehicles and Equity

The ICCT seeks a highly motivated and committed Associate Researcher who will contribute towards research on an equitable and socially just transition to low- and zero-emission vehicles in Germany. This position will focus particularly on data analysis and socially just policy approaches to reduce emissions from passenger cars. This full-time position is based in our Berlin office in Germany and will report to an ICCT Senior Researcher.
To be successful in our environment, you must be intellectually curious, self-directed, and able to work with people from across the globe. The position is best suited to someone with inventiveness, creativity, resourcefulness, curiosity, and strong time management skills. The ideal candidate will hold a graduate degree with previous research experience in environment, transportation topics, or social science, have excellent writing skills, international education, travel or work experience, written and verbal fluency in German and English, and a demonstrated passion for solving our most pressing global health and environmental challenges through an equity lens.
You Will:
- Collect and analyze data on the uptake of low- and zero-emission vehicles in Germany
- Analyze global best practice measures to promote the deployment of low- and zero-emission vehicles with a focus on a socially just transition, such as progressive vehicle tax policies and equitable charging infrastructure deployment
- Contribute to publications and preparing interviews (in German and English)
- Help organize workshops and facilitate exchanges with policymakers
- Support the development of policy recommendations for a socially just transition to low- and zero-emission vehicles
- Perform other duties as assigned
You Have:
- Bachelor’s degree (Master's degree preferred) in engineering, environmental science or policy, social science, data science, transportation, or a related field
- Experience or interest in transportation, equity, climate change, public policy, or related topics
- Fluent German and English communication skills, both written and verbal are required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ArcGIS
- Organizational and collaboration skills, combined with a positive attitude
Our Benefits
This full-time position will be based in our Berlin, Germany office and with a salary of €63,945. Initially, a 2-year limited contract will be offered, with the possibility of transitioning into an unlimited contract depending on organizational resources and performance.
