PostDoc position in forest ecology and nature conservation in temperate forest ecosystems

The Ecological Field Station Fabrikschleichach examines applied and fundamental questions in forest ecology and nature conservation in temperate forest ecosystems. Our overall research aim is to better understand the interaction of forest ecosystem functioning, biodiversity and forest management in a changing world. We offer a relaxing working atmosphere in the heart of the Steigerwald forest (for more information please see Our facilities range from high-end laboratories for DNA extraction to equipment for rearing saproxylic arthropods.
The successful candidate holds a PhD degree in ecological sciences, forest sciences, conservation biology or a related field. Therefore, the candidate should have a strong publication record as well as significant statistical skills in R programming language. Experience and interest in arthropods are of advantage. The effectiv candidate will have the opportunity to use large existing datasets, professional networks, and long-term experimental field data to perform ecological syntheses and develop his/her research focus. Furthermore, we welcome the initiative to generate third-party funding via project proposals and the development of an own research focus. The successful candidate will have teaching duties and is invited to take the responsibility to supervise PhD-students to foster his/her research focus.

The earliest starting date for the position is January 2020, whereas the exact starting date is negotiable. The position is limited to 36 months, with possibility of extension depending on performance and the development of the funding situation. The position enables and supports the preparation of a postdoctoral qualification (habilitation). Salary and benefits are according to public service positions in Bavarian (TV-L, 100%). The vacancy can be filled as part time as well.
