The RTG ConFoBi offers a unique inter- and transdisciplinary programme for a large number of doctoral researchers. ConFoBi combines multi-scale ecological studies on forest biodiversity with economic and social science studies of biodiversity conservation to investigate the timely question how conservation of forest biodiversity can be effectively integrated in forest management (for details see http://www.confobi.uni-freiburg.de).
A DFG-funded full-time postdoctoral position will be available from 1st July 2021 to June 2025. The postdoctoral researcher will be placed at the Chair of Wildlife Ecology and Management (http://www.wildlife.uni-freiburg.de/) and closely cooperate with the RTG’s Spokesperson, the Scientific Coordinator, and the whole ConFoBi team.
The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for leading the final synthesis process of ConFoBi’s nine year research programme through integrating results across projects and thereby disciplines (e.g. remote sensing, forestry, ecology, economics and social sciences).
For this position, we seek an internationally experienced professional with recognized interdisciplinary experience, preferably in the analysis of social-ecological systems, including economic aspects. Applicants are expected to hold a PhD degree or equivalent, and have received additional training as postdoctoral fellow. Strong conceptual and analytical abilities as well as writing skills, documented in an excellent scientific publication
record, are necessary. Experience in working in multinational, inter- and transdisciplinary research environments is advantageous.
We seek an enthusiastic, self-motivated team player who works in a structured manner and has excellent communication and organizational skills. The postdoctoral researcher must be fluent in spoken and written English; proficiency in German is an advantage. He/she will be supported in his/her individual career plans, and will be given the possibility to complete the habilitation degree, i.e. the formal requirement for a professorship). He/she will further have access to ALU’s qualification programme (https://www.frs.uni-freiburg.de/en/kurse_postdocs-en?) for postdoctoral scientists, and other offers of ALU’s Freiburg Research Services.
Applications documents include CV, publication list, motivation letter, and contact details of three references. The salary will be determined in accordance with TV-L E13. We are particularly pleased to receive applications from women for the position advertised here.
