The mission of the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) as a nationally and internationally active research institute is to deliver solutions for an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable agriculture – together with society. ZALF is a member of the Leibniz Association and is located in Müncheberg (approx. 35 minutes by regional train from Berlin-Lichtenberg). It also maintains a research station with further locations in Dedelow and Paulinenaue.
ZALF aims to assess and continuously improve its scientific contribution to the sustainable development of agricultural landscape systems. The impact assessment research group at ZALF therefore develops and tests methods and indicators for the impact assessment of research on sustainable development targets.
This is done as part of the project "Socially responsible research - design, impact analysis, quality management (LeNa-Shape)" funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The approach follows an impact pathway approach and is exemplary applied to research projects relevant to agricultural landscapes.
Based on an international literature review, you develop a methodology for an ex-ante impact assessment of research in the field of natural resource use. This includes the justified selection of suitable indicators and a participatory design of impact pathway analysis involving scientists from ZALF and the Leibniz Center for Tropical Marine Ecology (ZMT) in Bremen. The indicators are intended to bridge the research topics to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
You will apply the developed methodology on a pilot basis to research projects and project clusters of ZALF and ZMT. On this basis, you will develop a generic approach to impact assessment of research for the sustainable use of natural resources. You will work in cooperation with a complementary position at ZMT and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary consortium of the LeNa Shape project. You will publish your results in high quality scientific journals.
Women are particularly encouraged to apply. Applications from severely disabled persons with equal qualifications are favored. It is generally possible to work in the position on a part-time basis.
