as temporary employment for the period of three years.

We offer an attractive working environment in Eichstätt located in the Altmühl Valley Nature Park. You will be integrated in an expanding team of young and encouraged scientists. We offer opportunities for cooperation and exchange with scientists and PhD students from various national and international universities.

Topic: Climate change is believed to increase pollen production and allergenicity. Up to now, little is known about additional biotic and abiotic factors that might alter these pollen characteristics. Within this project funded by the DFG in-depth knowledge should be gained which allows the prediction of future alterations under climate change conditions in more detail. An interdisciplinary collaboration between scientists of landscape ecology, phytomedicine and environmental medicine shall answer how biotic and abiotic factors impact pollen production and allergenicity and finally the allergic reactions in patients.

Tasks: Your tasks include the estimation of pollen production of birch trees located across Europe in International Phenological Gardens and the Bavarian Alps, the analysis of pollution data, land use information and other environmental factors. You will present the gained results in peer-reviewed journals, at international conferences and to the public. The cooperation with the Humboldt University of Berlin and the Technical University Munich will provide additional insights in phytopathological and medical analyses.

Your profile:
