Freelance Canoe Guide / Outdoor Camp Counsellor (m/w/d)

Camburg to Merseburg (on the Saale in Thüringen)

Language Farm

📅 June – August 2027 | 📍 Thuringia, Germany (Saale River) | 💼 Freelance / Honorarbasis

Do you love the outdoors, paddling on the river, and working with young people? Do you want to spend your summer in an international, high-energy team where English is the language of the day? Then welcome to the Language Farm!

We are looking for passionate, energetic, and safety-conscious Freelance Canoe Guides to lead our canoe day tours and support our language camps during the summer season of 2027.

🚣 Your Role & Responsibilities

• Lead Canoe Tours: You will safely guide groups of children and teenagers (accompanied by our language counsellors) along the beautiful Saale river.
• Safety First: You instruct participants on safety, paddling techniques, and environmental awareness before and during the trip.
• Gear Management: You are responsible for the preparation, loading, unloading, and maintenance of the canoes and equipment.
• Camp Life: When not on the water, you integrate into our vibrant camp atmosphere and support outdoor team-building games.

🌟 What You Bring

• Experience on the Water: Sound canoeing/paddling skills and experience in guiding groups. A formal canoe guide license is a big plus, but proven experience is what counts most.
• Languages: Excellent command of English (Native speaker or fluent C1/C2). Our camp language is strictly English! German language skills are helpful but not mandatory.
• Safety Qualifications: A valid Life Saving Certificate (e.g., DLRG Silber, BC Lifeguard, or international equivalent) and a current Outdoor First Aid certificate.
• Personality: High energy, reliable, responsible, and a natural ability to motivate and connect with kids and teens.
• Legal: Freelance status (Gewerbeschein / Steuernummer) and a clean enhanced certificate of good conduct (Erweitertes Führungszeugnis).

⛺ What We Offer

• Fair Compensation: Attractive daily or weekly freelance rates (Honorar), depending on your qualifications and experience.
• Full Board Included: Free accommodation and delicious organic/regional food during your camp stays.
• International Vibe: Work alongside open-minded people from all over the world in a unique, non-traditional learning environment.
• Nature as Your Office: Spend your summer on the water and around the campfire instead of behind a desk.
