Scientist for research on Rural Resilience

The Resource Economics Group, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, is looking for a Scientist (50%, TV-L E13) for research on Rural Resilience for 4 years. The successful applicant will be a highly motivated, excellent social scientist. The person will contribute to research and coordination of the NEXRUR research project, funded under the EU’s Horizon Europe program. NEXRUR (“Next Generation Sustainable Business Models and Monitoring for Rural Resilience and Innovation”) will study environmental and economic sustainability dimensions of rural development in Europe and China. The successful applicant will serve a key role as liaison person between Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy (ATB).

Requirements:

  • An excellent degree related to rural development, sustainable innovations and transitions, business economics, or agricultural economics, preferably a PhD.
  • Good organizational skills to co-coordinate an interdisciplinary consortium
  • Proficiency in English and (preferably) satisfactory German
  • Interest in economic research on environmental problems, natural resources and sustainability

A plus would be:

  • Knowledge of and interest in one or more of the following topics: agricultural economics, bioeconomy, organizational studies or institutional economics.
  • Experience with organization and administration of larger research grants
  • Experience in working with stakeholders or with trans-disciplinary methods
  • Knowledge of Chinese language
  • Interest to combine qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Track record as a strong team player
