International CDR Advocacy BiCRS Built Environment (60-80%)
Zürich
Timber Finance
Timber Finance is a young climate tech company at the forefront of the intersection between real estate, timber construction and carbon removal markets. We develop and certify the climate and carbon storage performance of timber buildings through our world’s first ICROA-compliant mass timber carbon removal credits. We promote sustainable construction with biogenic building materials combined with sustainable forest management.
Following the recognition of timber in construction as a removal meth by IPCC, UNFCCC, EU etc., the introduction of the mass timber removal credits in Switzerland and the recognition of the VCS methodology in autumn 2025, the next step is to anchor mass timber construction internationally as an efficient, fast scalable Biomass Carbon Removal and Storage (BiCRS) solution within the global CDR community of buyers, brokers, expert committees, national policymakers and platforms.
We are looking for a communicative and dedicated individual to advance the market-oriented, political and scientific discourse on mass timber carbon removals internationally.
Your tasks:
- International positioning and promotion of modern mass timber construction as a new exciting and fast scalable carbon removal method within the CDR and real estate community
- Building networks, stakeholder management, and representing interests in international organizations, alliances, and programs such as US CDR programs, UK Net-Zero Roadmap, EU CRCF, UN Article 6, CDR platforms, the European Parliament, DG CLIMA, DG ENER, and UNFCCC workshops
- Systematic screening of legislative initiatives, regulations, and CDR funding programs and initiatives
- Developing arguments and policy briefings for political and scientific decision-makers
- Drafting statements, assessments, position papers, consultations, and RFPs
- Participating in or speaking at conferences, panels, public consultations, and networking events at UN, EU, and Swiss level in the CDR and real estate sectors
- Organizing events for potential CDR buyers, policymakers, and the real estate and (timber) construction industries
Your profile:
- Experience in advocacy or public affairs in the international CDR sector, preferably on the buy side
- University degree in environmental or climate-related fields with additional training in PR
- Strong communication and writing skills, both verbal and visual
- Passion for CDRs, climate, impact, forests, construction, timber construction, and innovation
- Native or excellent English skills in speaking and writing; German and French are an asset
- Self-reliance, hands-on mentality, entrepreneurial thinking in an international environment
We offer:
- Workplace preferably in Switzerland (Zurich or Bern, close to train station) and home office flexibility
- Free space for growth and independent, entrepreneurial work
- Working at the forefront of climate-positive construction and carbon removal markets
- A pioneering role with plenty of creative space in an ambitious, fast-growing environment
- Direct impact on a project with measurable climate benefits and economic relevance
- Young, dedicated team and an exciting opportunity to build a start-up
